Sustainable Pittsburgh | Multi-Sector Decarbonization Insights
Virtual via Zoom
Sep 19, 2022 | 2:30 PM – 4:00 PM
During the summer of 2022, Sustainable Pittsburgh and CEOs for Sustainability hosted “The Regional Economic Development Opportunities of Multi-Sector Decarbonization” with the goal of organizing, expanding, and furthering our regional conversation around a comprehensive, equity-driven, long-term, multi-sector decarbonization strategy.
To continue building and broadening our regional conversation, Sustainable Pittsburgh and CEOs for Sustainability invite you to join us for “Multi-Sector Decarbonization Insights” where we will report findings from the feedback we received during the Summer meeting and from our Regional Decarbonization Strategy Survey. We’ll also review sector-specific decarbonization resources found in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and the recent Inflation Reduction Act as well as programs, tools, opportunities, and next steps that can support multiple sectors. This event will also provide important regional context and learnings as activities ramp up for the Global Clean Energy Action Forum happening later the same week in Pittsburgh.

Scott Institute for Energy Innovation, Carnegie Mellon University | Distinguished Lecture with Sally Benson
Simmons B, Tepper Quad, Carnegie Mellon University
4765 Forbes Avenue
Pittsburgh, PA 15213
Sep 20, 2022 | 4:30 PM – 5:30 PM
Imagine a future where most of our electricity comes from carbon-free sources, where electric vehicles are the car of choice, where clean hydrogen is fueling long-haul trucking, and entirely new industries are growing new and good jobs here in America, and our energy and related supply chains are more secure than ever, and the air and water is getting cleaner everywhere, and for everyone, especially for people who have borne a disproportionate share of historic pollution burdens. With the historic legislation and executive actions taken over the past 1 ½ years, we don’t just have to imagine that anymore. In this lecture, Dr. Sally Benson will discuss the provisions and scale of these actions that will launch a transformational decade of climate action that will make this future a reality.
Moderated by Jay Whitacre and Valerie Karplus from the Scott Institute for Energy Innovation.

Eos Energy Enterprises | 4 C’s Celebration: Clemente, Community, Commerce & Climate
Roberto Clemente Museum
3339 Penn Avenue
Pittsburgh, PA 15201
Sep 22, 2022 | 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM
Roberto Clemente’s athletic career and humanitarian work outside of baseball made him a hero in Pittsburgh and all over the world. 50 years after he notched his 3000th career hit, the Global Clean Energy Action Forum (GCEAF) has come to Pittsburgh bringing global advocates together to share ideas on how to accelerate the pace, scale, and deployment of clean energy technologies to achieve a net-zero energy system. This transition will help solve the climate crisis, but like Clemente who looked beyond baseball to advance humanitarian causes, climate and energy advocates must also focus on workers and communities to ensure that the future zero-emissions economy creates opportunities for everyone.
So, please join us as we recognize both Clemente’s legacy and recent climate and energy policy breakthroughs. We’re on a path to net zero while creating clean energy careers that will invigorate communities like Pittsburgh all over the world—it’s time to celebrate!
